At the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula , once sleepy solitary fishing villages Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo were targeted in the 70´s to become a major resort area and re-named the area Los Cabos, (the Capes). The two towns, joined by a spectacular 18 mile 4 lane highway are different in many ways. San José del Cabo (closest to the airport) is the government center and traditional Mexican town, where most hotels are all inclusive and favored by visitors who wish to enjoy a safe, self contained vacation. Wild and outrageous Cabo San Lucas is a more party till you drop, rock and roll epicentre of the peninsula, where it seems that Spring break never ends.
